The Mallinckrodt esophageal Combitube is a unique double lumen airway designed for emergency or difficult intubation providing sufficient ventilation whether the airway is placed in the esophagus or into the trachea. The Mallinckrodt Combitube is most effective for use in patients over 5’ tall. For patients 4’ to 5’ tall, clinicians should consider using the Combitube SA (Small Adult) for the most effectiveness.

Features:

If the tube ends up in the esophagus, ventilating the blue port blows oxygen through a series of holes above the trachea
If the tube ends up in the trachea, ventilating the clear port blows oxygen through the distal end directly into the trachea
